From my point of view, in order to properly understand the laws supported by Silviu Vexler and his gesture in Parliament, it is essential to explain the context in which he acts. Vexler is a parliamentarian elected as the representative of the Jewish minority in Romania. This is an institutional fact and explains the position from which he promotes certain legislative initiatives.

The problem arises when, from this position, laws are supported and public gestures are made that directly affect the culture, memory, and identity of the Romanian majority. From my point of view, these laws and this behavior are against Romanians. Moreover, I consider them culturally racist, as they treat Romanian identity as suspect, conditional, and subject to criminal sanctions.

This is not about simple debates or differences of opinion. In Romania, there are laws in force that provide criminal penalties, including imprisonment, for certain forms of expression, citation, or reference to historical and cultural figures, depending on how authorities interpret them. These laws exist, are applicable, and produce concrete legal effects.

In this context, the parliamentary gesture of tearing a sheet containing the names and images of major Romanian writers and poets must be understood. For me, this act cannot be considered neutral or accidental. It is a symbolic rejection of Romanian culture, carried out in the highest forum of the state, from a position of power.

The fact that these actions come from a minority representative explains why many Romanians perceive them as hostile and anti-Romanian. This is not an accusation against a community, but a direct critique of a specific political behavior and of laws that affect the majority population.

This is my assumed opinion. It is a conclusion reached through documentation, analysis of the legal framework, and direct observation of these political actions. Whether contested or ignored, this perception exists and explains the growing divide between part of the political class and the Romanian majority.
