AGERPRES is launching the editorial project “ALEG ROMÂNIA” on Monday. The agency announced it on Sunday, 18 October 2026, at 15:46. It is not a television show and not a slogan contest. It is a series of reports on people who have built a life here: Romanians back after years abroad, and foreigners who stayed.

The line at the top is short: “Romania is not only the place where we were born. For some of us it is the place where we choose to build.” The reports will talk about trades, from those handed down in families to newer professions. The people in them, the agency writes, build, repair, create, teach and research.

The personal reasons AGERPRES says it will look for are the usual ones in such series: family, friends, community, belonging, the belief that a trade can be practised at home. Goldring repeated the announcement the same day, quoting the agency, without naming anyone. AGERPRES itself did not publish a first portrait in the launch note.

The project belongs to the state news agency, not to a government programme. It does not promise jobs and it is not a repatriation campaign. It is an invitation to read: people for whom “home” means the place where they follow their work. The series starts on Monday; the episode calendar is not in the announcement.

Anyone expecting, from the headline, a 2026 statistic of returns will not find it here. Anyone reading the note as a list of filmed success stories skips the fact that, on Sunday, only the editorial frame existed. The portraits come later.

ALEG ROMÂNIA, with a single G, is the name AGERPRES chose. It is not “ALEGR”. The difference is small in speech and important on a masthead. The rest will be judged on the first report, not on the press note.
