The woman shot on Friday evening in a sports hall in Älvsjö, southern Stockholm, works in the city’s youth service. Lee Orberson, district director of Hägersten-Älvsjö, said on Saturday, 17 October 2026, that she is a staff member in the youth organisation and that thoughts go to family, relatives and colleagues. Her name is not published: the investigation is open.

Police were called at 21:08 on 16 October about a person shot in a sports-hall complex in Solberga during matches. The woman, in her mid-20s, is seriously injured and in hospital; relatives have been told. SVT wrote that the shots were fired on the upper floor of Kämpetorpshallarna, where fewer people were present.

Hundreds of young people were in the building: a floorball match and Hammarby Fotboll’s “Spontanfotboll” programme with local youth clubs. Orberson said it is an important activity to occupy young people and that such an event hits the local community. The club sent condolences and said its staff stayed on site on Friday night.

On Saturday morning two boys under 18 were detained, suspected of attempted murder. Police described them as older teenagers. Detention is an investigative measure, not a conviction; the presumption of innocence applies. The minors are not named.

Police wrote that the perpetrator left the scene and that several people in the area were checked. The football match was in a different hall from the shooting, but many people had to be led out in a controlled way. A police request that trains skip Älvsjö station was lifted at 22:40.

Sveriges Radio reported that prosecutors said the motive is unclear and that there is not yet a known link between those detained and the woman. Press theories about revenge are not treated as established here. The city activated internal crisis management, kept Ungdomens hus open until 22:00 and brought in support for children and young people in the area.
