On Monday, around 8:40, at Ștefan cel Mare Middle School in Bistrița, a seventh-grade pupil attacked a teacher with a knife and wounded another pupil, according to Bistrița-Năsăud county police, cited by Agerpres. Police were called on 112. The minor was restrained and is in police custody. We are not writing his name. This is not a conviction.

The county schools chief, Vasile Șteopoaie, said the boy had been looking for a sixth-grade classmate, who is in foster care, and that the reason he gave was religion. Agerpres: “would have”. When the teacher blocked the door, he allegedly struck her; in the classroom another child was hurt trying to help. DIICOT has taken the inquiry. Motive, radicalisation, religion: those remain the inspector’s statements, still to be checked.

The county hospital: a 28-year-old woman and a 12-year-old, wounds from an assault, conscious, stable, frightened, under investigation in A&E. Șteopoaie: the victims are out of danger. We have not described the wounds. Agerpres Justice: a file was opened for attempted murder. That is a file, not a sentence. At 13, this is an investigation, not a verdict.

Classes were suspended. Children wait for parents, under supervision. The school has cameras in corridors and classrooms, the inspector said. Euronews: the attack may have been announced live on a network. That stays “may have”, until the inquiry.

We have not written who is of which religion. We have not put a radicalisation diagnosis. This is not a public trial of a child.

Until DIICOT and a court, we have an incident confirmed by police, two people wounded and stable, a minor in custody. The rest is a lead.
