On Tuesday evening, 20 October 2026, Mexico City’s Collective Transport System reported a fire outbreak on the Velódromo–Ciudad Deportiva interstation, Line 9. The fire was under a bridge, in colonia Jardín Balbuena, Venustiano Carranza borough. Juan Manuel Pérez Cova, of the fire service: rubbish was burning. The fire was put out. No injuries were reported.
El Universal, updated 23:53: first slow running, then no trains between Chabacano and Pantitlán. Remaining trains ran Tacubaya–Chabacano, both ways. RTP took the stretch without trains. Six stations without trains: Jamaica, Mixiuhca, Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva, Puebla, Pantitlán. Chabacano is the western end of the break, not a seventh station on that list.
Metro director Adrián Rubalcava: firefighters, the Escorpiones and Centauros teams, chainage 4+880, track 1. Preliminarily, he said, the rubbish may have spread toward the tracks, with possible damage to fibre and high-voltage cables. A preliminary cause is not a sentence. Nobody has been tried for the fire.
Wednesday morning, N+ at 06:26 and Quadratín at 07:49: still no trains Chabacano–Pantitlán, RTP, queues on Talleres Gráficos. Almost ten hours. Staff were working on the installations. Rubalcava spoke of repairs over several nights. That is a schedule, not a reopening.
Infobae ran a live blog: at midday still RTP; an afternoon headline speaks of the line restored, with slow running. Two clocks. The morning rests on N+ and Quadratín. This is not a closed criminal case.
STC wrote that the situation posed no risk to passengers and that people were taken off trains at stations before the site. That is not a court finding on who set the rubbish alight. Dump El Universal. The rewrite rests on El Universal and N+.
