On Tuesday, 20 October 2026, Chile’s Public Health Institute approved Picmagluti, an injectable semaglutide solution from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Chile. It is the first chemically synthesised semaglutide authorised in the country. Two sanitary registers: 0.25 or 0.5 mg per dose, and 1 mg. A registration, not a pharmacy price and not today’s shelf.

La Tercera reported the detail on Wednesday, 21 October. Semaglutide is the active substance in Ozempic, registered in Chile as a biological product. Picmagluti is a chemically made peptide, so it follows the ordinary evaluation path, not a simplified register. The ISP: Chile would be among the pioneers; Canada and Brazil in May 2026, Argentina in 2024; the United States and Australia have not yet approved chemical-origin versions. That is the institute’s wording.

Director Catterina Ferreccio: they are accelerating for patients, but without complete evidence of quality and safety there is no register. The ISP is assessing five other synthetic products from four laboratories (June 2025–July 2026), 11 applications, because each dose needs its own register. In July 2026, four biological applications. Another file, not Picmagluti.

Picmagluti’s price is not official. Diario Financiero wrote it could sit below half the original; Ozempic, in pharmacies, runs from 140,000 to over 300,000 pesos a month, depending on dose and shop. Press expectation, not an ISP list. CNN Chile repeated a “cheaper alternative”; that is not a published tariff.

Diabetologist Camila Hernández, to La Tercera: a sanitary authorisation does not mean immediate arrival in pharmacies and does not set the price. The approved doses are Ozempic’s, not Wegovy’s 1.7 and 2.4 mg. The long cardiovascular-protection trials were on the original. A medical opinion, not an ISP verdict.

Dump La Tercera. The rewrite rests on the ISP statement as carried by Pulso and on Radio Agricultura. This is not medical advice.
