Ciara Mahony was sentenced on Monday at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to six years and three months in prison. The Irish Times reported it. RTE confirmed it. This is not a murder conviction. The 2017 killing of Jamie Tighe-Ennis remains unsolved.
Mahony, 46, pleaded guilty to the sole count: facilitating a criminal organisation in the commission of the murder, between 27 and 28 October 2017. The offence carries a maximum of 15 years. Judge Martin Nolan started from nine to 10 years and reduced it to six years and three months, taking into account an early guilty plea.
Jamie Tighe-Ennis, 24, was shot in the head on Moatview Avenue in Coolock in the early hours of 28 October 2017 and died instantly. A black Audi getaway car was found burnt out in Finglas. Mahony bought the petrol: she was seen at a Topaz station filling a red jerry can later found in the car, Det Sgt Domhnall O'Connell said.
She phoned him several times and met him briefly at the Priorswood Inn that night. The defence said she knew a very serious offence was planned, not necessarily a killing. The detective said she was aware something serious was going to happen to Tighe-Ennis. The judge spoke of moral culpability, not a conviction for murder.
RTE presents her as the woman who set up a man in the Hutch-Kinahan feud, its 14th victim. The Irish Times does not use that feud label. The charge remains facilitation, not a separate offence of arranging the killing.
She was extradited from Birmingham last year after prosecutors decided to proceed in November 2024. The victim's family was in court. Their grief does not close the case against the shooter, who was not sentenced today.
