Romania’s National Public Pension House counted 4,674,614 pensioners at the end of September 2026, 2,725 fewer than in August. The average pension was 2,785 lei and entitlements due totalled 13.02 billion lei, according to CNPP figures seen by Agerpres and reported by Economedia.
Of that total, 503,353 people had periods worked in agriculture, with an average pension of 708 lei. Old-age pensions covered 3,778,651 people, of whom 2,152,111 were women; the average in that category was 3,119 lei.
Early retirement went to 58,144 people, averaging 2,423 lei. Disability pensions: 388,541 people (average 1,071 lei), including 46,196 in grade I (938 lei). Survivor pensions: 449,193 people (1,511 lei). Social assistance: 85 pensioners (542 lei on average).
The figures are a monthly stock, not a rise in benefits. The national average of 2,785 lei is pulled down by agricultural and disability pensions compared with 3,119 lei for old-age pensions.
Agerpres published the same totals on 17 October, also citing CNPP. They are not October forecasts and do not replace an individual payment slip.
