On Wednesday, D-8 and COMSATS signed a memorandum, at a virtual ceremony. Sohail Mahmood, D-8 secretary-general, and Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, COMSATS executive director. Cooperation in science, technology, sustainable development. A memorandum signed. Not projects already launched. Dump Daily Sabah.

The D-8 text counts six fields: agriculture and food security; digital transformation, cybersecurity and ICT; climate; energy; industry; public health. Daily Sabah listed agriculture, cybersecurity, digital, climate, energy, industry and health — seven words. Six packages. Do not count them as seven programmes.

They will look for joint research, technology transfer, exchanges, training. Mahmood: innovation, for competitiveness. Practical initiatives, of use to members. That is a speech. It is not a budget. Zakaria: COMSATS has 27 states and 25 centres of excellence. Türkiye, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan sit in both. Six shared countries. It is not a project on the ground.

Daily Sabah ran a photograph from Istanbul of Mahmood signing. The ceremony is virtual. The picture is a handout. It is not a physical summit. Both sides named focal points, D-8 writes. Contacts, not building sites.

D-8 is economic cooperation among eight. COMSATS is a South-South science network. A memorandum. A frame. It is not the launch of the six fields as funded programmes.

Dump Daily Sabah. The rewrite rests on Daily Sabah and the D-8 communiqué.
