The Danish government announced on 21 October that the state will guarantee a loan of 750 million Danish kroner, about $113 million, to the Danish subsidiary of the Ukrainian defence company Fire Point. The money will be channelled through the export and investment fund EIFO. It is a loan guarantee. It is not a factory already running.
The Kyiv Independent writes that the war stops the firm borrowing on ordinary terms in Denmark, which is why the state and EIFO step in. Business and Industry Minister Martin Lidegaard said hosting a Ukrainian defence company would bring “knowledge and production, as well as partnerships” that could strengthen Ukraine, Denmark’s defence industry and a more independent Europe. Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus added that production outside Ukraine is harder to hit and that, when Denmark supports Ukraine’s defence industry, the combat power of Kyiv’s armed forces rises.
Denmark announced in September 2025 that Fire Point would make fuel for long-range missiles on Danish soil. The plant, the Kyiv Independent reported, is expected to become operational by the end of 2027. A deadline. Not a line already running.
Berlingske, citing the Business Ministry statement, confirms the same figure and the same mechanism: a state guarantee for the Danish subsidiary, channelled through EIFO. The paper places the plant in Vojens, near Skrydstrup air base, and writes that a start at the end of 2027 is a year later than the original plan. The delay was announced in August by chief executive Iryna Terekh. Berlingske’s headline speaks of a state “loan”; the body and the ministry speak of a guarantee. We stay with the guarantee.
EIFO’s chief executive, Peder Lundqvist, said the fund is involved in almost 40 projects supporting Ukraine and Danish–Ukrainian cooperation. The Fire Point financing, he added, is a concrete example. The company signed European agreements in August 2026 for the Freyja project; that file is not Wednesday’s announcement.
