The Valencian regional government sent two ES-Alert messages on Saturday, 17 October 2026, through its emergency coordination centre, because of forecast rain in Valencia and Alicante provinces. El Mundo, citing EFE, said the first message went to the northern Alicante coast and southern Valencia coast, under a red alert from 10:00 on Sunday. The second went to the northern coast and southern inland of Valencia, under a high orange warning from Sunday night.

AEMET raised Sunday, 18 October, 10:00–23:59, to red (extraordinary danger) for the southern Valencia coast and northern Alicante, with 200 l/m² in 12 hours and 300 l/m² in 24 hours in some places. The agency warned that goods and vulnerable people in exposed areas could suffer “very serious or catastrophic” impacts. The red alert stays on Monday, 19 October, 00:00–10:00, in the same area.

elDiario, also citing EFE, said the ES-Alert around 15:00 asked people to avoid travel, flood-prone areas and road closures, stay out of riverbeds, move upstairs if a home is exposed, and keep away from seafront promenades. Sunday also has orange warnings on the Alicante coast (up to 60 l/m² in an hour in the north) and on Valencia’s coast and southern inland.

In Castellón, AEMET has a yellow warning on Sunday along the whole coast, with 30 l/m², possible hail, wind and, at sea, north-easterlies of 50–60 km/h (force 7) and 3–4 metre waves, also expected on the Valencia coast and northern Alicante. Monday still has storms, rain, wind and coastal phenomena.

The alerts are a forecast, not a casualty tally. They do not announce that every road in the region is already closed; they ask people to avoid travel in the areas named.
