On Wednesday, the Indian Air Force held an outreach in New Delhi with around 100 representatives from drone firms. It handed out the Unmanned and Autonomous Systems Roadmap booklet, launched at Dronathon in Pokhran on 14 September. Operational requirements. Not contracts awarded. Dump Times of India.
The programme, for MSMEs, startups and partners: long-term needs in unmanned and autonomous systems. Self-reliance in this field, the IAF said, is an operational necessity, not an aspiration. Indigenous propulsion, autonomous software, resilient navigation, standardised interfaces. That is a list of priorities. It is not a Wednesday order.
The roadmap sees a layered, networked family of unmanned systems, to sit beside crewed platforms. The Times of India did not count the families. ANI, carried by New Kerala: 16 families, four tiers — strategic, operational, tactical, distributed. Two counts. Stay with TOI for the event, with ANI for 16. Do not mix them as one communiqué.
DD India, from the PIB: the meeting was at Vigyan Bhawan, chaired by Air Marshal Premkumar K, director general of weapon systems. That is the place. It is not September’s Dronathon. It is not a Wednesday flight.
ANI: copies of the roadmap after verification, undertakings and NDAs. TOI: the booklet was handed out on Wednesday. Two versions of the paper. Stay with TOI for the distribution, with ANI for the NDA. It is not a tender. It is not an award.
Dump Times of India. The rewrite rests on the Times of India and on DD India, from the PIB.
