The government in Chișinău approved on Wednesday the conscription quota for October 2026–January 2027. Radio Moldova: 168 recruits from the municipality and more than 1,000 from the rest of the country. The draft annex: Chișinău 167 for full-term service and 1 for reduced-term. Two clocks on the wording. A regular intake, not mobilisation.

The draft decision, on the government site: up to 1,200 recruits for full-term military service; up to 10 on reduced term. Moldpres: about 1,200 plus another 10, approved today. “Up to” is not the same as “about”. A ceiling, not a tally of those already enlisted.

Defence minister Anatolie Nosatîi, after Moldpres: the procedure runs twice a year, April–July and October–January, a legal duty. A year of full-term service, also after the agency. Not an emergency. Recruits go in stages, on the Defence Ministry’s timetable, under Government Decision 864/2005.

Legal basis: Law 1245/2002 and Presidential Decree 734/2026. Prime minister on the draft: Vasile Tofan. Oversight: the chair of the State Conscription Commission. The decision takes effect on publication in the Official Gazette. Wednesday’s approval is not yet that publication.

Those whose term expires in the same window go into the reserve, after the draft. Not an extra call-up. Ziarul de Gardă, on 19 October, reported the draft as still awaiting approval. Wednesday is the act. Dump Radio Moldova. The rewrite rests on Radio Moldova, the draft on gov.md and Moldpres.
