Moldova’s culture minister, Dan Suruceanu, met on 15 October 2026 with Alexandru Constantin Chituță, acting manager of the Moldova National Museum Complex in Iași. The Culture Ministry in Chișinău said talks covered research, conservation and use of museum heritage. A cooperation agreement was discussed; it was not signed.

If concluded, the document would open specialist training, exchanges of experience, joint research and conservation. The sides also spoke of existing partnerships between institutions in the two countries. No signing date or list of concrete projects was announced.

MOLDPRES reported the same outline the next day, citing the ministry. The Iași complex is based in the Palace of Culture and includes the History Museum of Moldova, the Art Museum, the Ethnographic Museum of Moldova and the Ștefan Procopiu Science and Technology Museum, plus a research and conservation-restoration centre.

Radio Chișinău treated the meeting as talks on an agreement, not a treaty in force. Such an understanding does not, by itself, move collections or create a joint museum.

The meeting was between the Moldovan ministry and a Romanian museum complex, not a joint statement of the two governments. The next step, if any, would be a signed and published text.

This article describes preparatory talks, not a ratified agreement.
