The Paris police prefecture has renewed, for the night from Wednesday to Thursday, two decrees. One stops people circulating between 23:00 and 06:00 local time, on two perimeters: the central island of Place de la République and a sector of Les Halles. The other bans undeclared gatherings between 20:00 and 06:00, near the Élysée, the National Assembly, the Senate, the Champs-Élysées and the stations. Decrees. Not a state of siege. Not the whole city.

It is the third night in a row. Prime minister Sébastien Lecornu and interior minister Laurent Nuñez have sent instructions to prefects. In Paris, as since Monday, the measures cover both minors and adults. Lyon had a ban in the centre on Monday and Tuesday. In Marseille, in some districts, it targeted minors. Another city, another text.

Sortiraparis cites decree 2026-01382: residents who can prove their address, workers who must enter, shopkeepers and emergency services are excepted. The ban is on people inside the perimeter, not on a whole city. Undeclared gatherings are a separate decree. It does not mean nobody may walk the Champs-Élysées.

The prefecture ties the measures to weekend violence and looting, on the edge of a social mobilisation, AFP writes via News.ro. Prosecutor Laure Beccuau said the first night "worked" and that Tuesday night was calm. That is her assessment, not a sentence. Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire supports the call for calm. The Greens in the municipal majority speak of a serious blow to public freedoms. A political disagreement, not martial law.

A police deployment, with a Gendarmerie helicopter, is announced to enforce the measures. AFP journalists saw the aircraft on Tuesday over Les Halles. That is all. It is not a how-to.

Two perimeters, one night. Not a state of siege.
