Moldovan police on 21 October 2026 denied a video by MP Vasile Costiuc. He said a Ukrainian man had been shot in the head near the border. The inspectorate says otherwise: the forensic report found no gunshot traces and the investigation is not going on. This is a denial plus a report, not a confirmed killing.

According to police, the body was found on 13 July 2024, in a field at Clocușna, Ocnița district, about 250 metres from the Ukrainian border. Border Police called it in through 112. Identity came from a phone found on him: a Ukrainian citizen, 27 at the time he went missing. Investigators think he may have tried an illegal crossing between 21 and 24 June 2024. Those are the institution’s figures, not a verdict.

Costiuc, of Democrația Acasă, placed the case in the summer of 2025. Police date it a year earlier. The MP also said Ukrainian border guards had killed, on Moldovan soil, people fleeing the war, and that Chișinău had covered it up. Police answer this file, not all of his clips. He says he will ask the General Prosecutor’s Office for explanations. A request, not a PG reply.

The forensic report, as cited by police: no injuries and no gunshot traces. The exact cause of death could not be established, because of the advanced state of the body. That is not a published medical cause; it is a limit of the examination.

After the evidence, the institution says there are no elements of a crime and that the investigation does not continue. Radio Moldova reported the same clarifications. Moldova 1 published the denial after the video.

A denial and a forensic report. Not a proven killing.
