Swedish police were called at 21.12 on Friday 16 October to a flat in Erikslid, Skellefteå. Three men were there. Two were injured with a blunt instrument, according to the first assessment. Both were taken to hospital, one in a life-threatening condition. That man, about 50, died in hospital. Relatives were told. None of the three is named here: the inquiry is open.

Police opened a murder investigation. The injured man, about 40, and the third, about 30, were detained as suspects. After interviews both were placed in pre-trial detention (anhållna), still on suspicion of murder — not a conviction. “After interviews the two men have been detained, suspected of murder,” said Marie Andersson, spokesperson for Police Region North.

Saturday’s 13.20 update on polisen.se puts the scene in Erikslid. Technicians worked the site in the morning. Further interviews with defence lawyers are due. Officers are door-knocking the area. The case sits with the serious-crime unit; a prosecutor leads the inquiry. The official log says initial facts can change.

Neighbours described a night of cordon. The building was sealed; residents could not leave. One told SVT he heard nothing, then nobody was allowed in or out. Others speak of blood in the stairwell and on the door of the sealed flat. On Saturday morning the apartment was still closed.

SVT mentions tumult in a flat; police say an indoor scene. The weapon — tillhygge, a striking object — comes from the first police account, not a finished forensic finding. Elin Andersson, also of the police, told the paper Norran, quoted by SvD, that it is said to have happened indoors.

The presumption of innocence holds. The two men are suspects, not judged. The dead man is identified only by age. We do not publish names while the investigation is open.
