On Wednesday, 21 October 2026, a fire broke out at a gas pipe in Talmaciu, Sibiu County, near a church. The Sibiu Inspectorate for Emergency Situations reported a violent flame and a risk that it would spread to the church. Ora de Sibiu quotes spokesperson Andreea Stefan. This is a network incident in Talmaciu, not a fire in the city of Sibiu and not a cause already established.

Firefighters set a 200-metre safety perimeter. About 60 people were evacuated. Nobody needed medical care, according to the inspectorate, as carried by Mediafax and Ora de Sibiu.

Two fire engines, a hydro-perforation unit, a tanker, a county ambulance crew and the Talmaciu Volunteer Emergency Service were sent to the scene.

Mediafax later reported the fire had been put out. Gas in the area was shut off by the operator. A few trees were damaged. Firefighters are working on the probable cause. The cause has not been announced.

Sibiu 100 writes that Delgaz Grid cut the supply in Talmaciu from 11:00, after an incident on the distribution network. The company estimates a gradual restart from 16:00, depending also on customers being at home. That is an estimate, not confirmation that gas has returned.

The Mediafax headline places the event "in Sibiu". The body of the reports and the inspectorate speak of Talmaciu. We do not mix this with Delgaz works announced the same day in Suceava.

Wednesday's fire is not a finding of fault against the operator and not another blast case. It is not the Elcen energy-market auction.

Until the cause is announced, the closed facts are the extinguished flame, the evacuation of about 60 people with no injuries, and the Delgaz cutoff, with a restart estimated from 16:00.
