Two drones detected on Saturday in Romania’s airspace triggered RO-Alert warnings in six north-eastern counties (Iași, Neamț, Vaslui, Botoșani, Bacău, Suceava) and temporarily halted flights at regional airports. ProTV News reported that from about 17:05 to 19:30 ROMATSA restricted airspace over Iași, Bacău and Suceava; eight flights were delayed and a medical flight was cancelled.

In Iași, an Eindhoven arrival was diverted to Suceava; the same aircraft, due for Turin, departed about two hours late. An Otopeni–Iași domestic flight left Bucharest roughly 45 minutes late. Iași airport director Romeo Vatră said passengers were disembarked in Suceava until the airspace reopened.

A heart-attack patient who already had approval for a medical flight was instead brought to Iași by road ambulance. Diana Cimpoeșu, head of Iași SMURD ER, confirmed the drone alert led to cancelling the medical flight.

The Air Force scrambled F-16s from Câmpia Turzii and Fetești plus a helicopter for monitoring. Defence minister Ștefan Radu Oprea said one drone left national airspace and the other was last seen between Vaslui and Bacău; no crashes were reported. Alerts ended that evening after the situation was reassessed.

ProTV’s “Moldova” refers to Romania’s Moldova region, not the Republic of Moldova. Attribution of the drones to a foreign actor is not confirmed in these statements; the Defence Ministry describes aerial targets and air-policing measures.
