The 78th Frankfurt Book Fair is scheduled from 7 to 11 October 2026. It remains the main meeting point of the publishing-rights market: publishers, literary agents, authors, journalists and creative-industry firms negotiate catalogues, translations and co-editions here.

Czechia is the Guest of Honour, under the official motto “A Country on the Coast”. The phrase treats a landlocked country as part of a literary ocean. The pavilion and cultural programme are announced by the Czech organisers with Frankfurter Buchmesse; an author’s appearance or a signing is confirmed only from the event page, not from a speculative list.

The fair days are not identical. Trade visitors are admitted, as a rule, from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 October, with a distinct Sunday timetable. The general public is admitted from 11:00 on Friday 9 October, from 9:00 on Saturday 10 October and from 9:00 on Sunday 11 October, until the hours published on buchmesse.de. A public ticket does not automatically open literary agencies or meeting centres reserved for professionals.

Tickets are bought in advance; only leftover stock, if any, is sold at the door. Local RMV transport is included with trade visitor tickets, according to the organiser. Hall maps, checkpoints and any bag rules should be read before travelling.
