The government in Chișinău approved, on 21 October 2026, the National Electric Mobility Programme 2030. The target is at least 600 public charging points by 2030, against more than 250 estimated for 2025. This is a programme, not a network already at 600.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development says at least 30 percent of the new points must sit outside Chișinău municipality. Stations are also meant for national roads, villages and border crossings. Fast and ultra-fast charging gets attention, the ministry writes. That is a map of intent, not today’s inventory.
The fleet target is at least 15 percent electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in the national car park by 2030. CO2 from road transport is meant to fall by at least 15 percent against 2025. In August a draft had spoken of 25 percent and of 500 points. The approved text aligned the targets at 15 percent and 600. This is not a law in force today; the horizon is 2030.
The decision puts MIDR to report to the government each year by 31 March, plus a mid-term review in 2028 and a final one in 2031. Funding comes from allocations already voted and from other legal sources. Part of the costs remains uncovered. Subsidies for buying electric cars were taken out of the action plan, after remarks from the Ministry of Finance.
Radio Chișinău reported the 600-point target. MIDR published, also on 21 October, the official notice. The prime minister is Vasile Tofan. The countersignature is that of deputy prime minister Vladimir Bolea, minister of infrastructure.
A programme approved. The network of 600 points is not ready.
