Prime Minister Luca Niculescu will not attend Monday, 2 November, the Chamber of Deputies’ “Prime Minister’s Hour,” where AUR had called him to present Romania’s budget-deficit situation. At 16:00, when the debate was scheduled, the government chief has consultations with trade-union confederations at Victoria Palace.
AUR’s request was approved by the Chamber’s Standing Bureau on 28 October; the order of business listed the debate for 2 November from 16:00. The government published a different diary: at the same hour, Niculescu meets union leaders. Spokesperson Dan Cărbunaru said Parliament had been notified of the absence.
AUR asked for the estimated 2026 ESA deficit and its reconciliation with the cash deficit, a list of measures for 2027–2030 (including the 2028 target) and how Romania would reach about 2.8% of GDP deficit by 2030 without new taxes and without cutting public investment. The party also asked why the 2026 cash target (6.2% of GDP) would sit above the ESA target (6.0%), reversing the 2024–2025 pattern.
In the morning, from 09:00, the premier is due at Victoria Palace for the signing ceremony under which Moldova’s Defence Ministry becomes a partner in the SAFE project on multifunctional wheeled transport platforms. Romania’s defence minister Ștefan Radu Oprea and Moldova’s Anatolie Nosatîi are also listed for the event.
Skipping the chamber does not cancel AUR’s request and is not a substantive answer on the deficit questions; it reflects the government’s calendar choice. Confirmation of the union meeting and of the Chamber notice rests on the official government schedule.
