Al Jazeera, 18 October, with AFP and AP: an A320, Tel Aviv to Vienna, an emergency landing in Sofia after a bomb alert. Bulgaria’s Transport Ministry, the same, in a statement. Flight OS82, Austrian Airlines. At the Romanian border the crew reported the threat and chose Sofia. Not Burgas. Not El Al. The threat is a signal, not an explosive found. The search, the airline told AFP, began after landing. The result is not in these pieces.

On board, initial figures: six crew, 51 passengers. All of them, off the aircraft. The ministry: a crisis staff, the institutions have opened a check. A fighter of the air force, by procedure, escorted it to the ground. Al Jazeera, from Defence: a MiG-29. The registration, in Arab News’s account: OE-LZE.

FlightAware: departure from Ben Gurion, Sunday, 18:46 local (15:46 GMT). Landing at Vasil Levski, Sofia, 21:43 (18:43 GMT). Flightradar24: it entered Romanian airspace around 21:10, then turned south, back into Bulgaria. ADS-B Exchange: squawk 7700, a general emergency, around then. That is the trackers’ trail. It is not a closed investigation.

The airline, to AFP: once the search is complete, passengers will be rebooked as quickly as possible. How long the search lasted, whether anything was found, who sent the signal: the ministry says the check has started. That is all.

Al Jazeera puts, below, another case, last month: Flydubai, a co-pilot accused of attacking the pilot with an axe, Tabuk. That is another piece. It is not OS82. We do not mix an Emirates charge with a threat on an Austrian flight.

The photograph is Sofia’s airport, not Sunday’s cabin. Until an inquiry’s tally, what remains is 51 people on the ground and a signal. The bomb, in the texts, is not confirmed.
