US President Donald Trump said Friday he plans fresh Cabinet changes after Republicans’ crushing midterm defeat. In a CBS News interview for “60 Minutes,” airing Sunday, he answered “Yes” when asked if he intends to fire people — a clip Digi24 carried via News.ro / CNN.
“A few,” Trump said. “I love my Cabinet. I think they’re good, but I’ll probably make a few changes. I don’t want to say who.”
The same day the White House announced Susie Wiles is being replaced as chief of staff by Stephen Miller, a loyalist known for hard-line immigration views and a former senior adviser. Trump later told reporters Wiles’s exit “has nothing to do with the election”: “It was just time. Sometimes you make changes.”
Of Miller, the president was lavish: “a great fighter,” with him “from the beginning,” “very loyal, smart,” “the most valuable person on the team every year.” “He’s gotten great reviews,” Trump added.
Asked whether he still trusts Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth — whom some Republicans blame for the midterm result — Trump said: “Yes. Look, we won two wars.”
Between the interview and the Wiles–Miller swap, the picture is a White House reshuffling its inner circle after the electoral shock — without yet naming a public list of Cabinet firings.
