The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel has concluded, in a report presented on Monday, that Israeli authorities continued to commit genocidal acts in Gaza after the October 2025 US-brokered ceasefire. The findings belong to the UN inquiry; they are not a judgment of the International Criminal Court.
According to Dawn, citing Reuters, the report examines violations against Palestinian civilians, including children, from the start of the war on 7 October 2023 through September 2026. The Commission says Israeli authorities kept committing “genocidal acts with the genocidal intent to destroy, in whole or in part, the Palestinians in Gaza”.
Investigators say that during the ceasefire period Israeli forces continued to use heavy munitions, drones, quadcopters, artillery and sniper fire in densely populated areas. The “Yellow Line”, presented as a temporary ceasefire demarcation, was encroaching deeper into Gaza and becoming, in the Commission’s assessment, a de facto border reflecting expanding territorial control.
The report ties these findings to an earlier assessment from September 2025, in which the same commission concluded that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza and that senior officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had incited such acts — accusations Israel called scandalous. In Geneva, the Israeli mission described the latest text as part of a misinformation campaign to demonise the state.
The Commission says the situation has also deteriorated sharply in the West Bank: Palestinians killed in airstrikes rose from six (2008–6 October 2023) to 254 (7 October 2023–30 September 2026). According to the report, military operations and settler violence form a widespread and systematic attack against the civilian population, and the inquiry speaks of crimes against humanity including extermination, torture and persecution on discriminatory grounds.
Commission Chair Srinivasan Muralidhar said the intentional killing of civilians and destruction of homes in the West Bank form part of a broader strategy to exterminate and displace Palestinians. The report notes that operations since 2025 produced the largest displacement in the West Bank since 1967. The Israeli mission urges the international community to reject the findings; they remain those of the UN inquiry, not a final criminal conviction.
