United Nations Day is observed every year on 24 October. The date recalls the 1945 entry into force of the UN Charter, after ratification by the required number of states, including the permanent members of the Security Council. It is not the anniversary of the General Assembly and is not to be confused with the days of specialised agencies.

UN offices, missions, schools and partners may hold ceremonies, concerts, exhibitions, lessons and broadcasts. Programmes differ from capital to capital. Some meetings are open to the public; others need an invitation, accreditation or registration. An event announced by one agency does not automatically bind the whole UN system.

The copy stays neutral. Political statements are attributed to the person and institution that publish them. The UN, its funds and programmes, specialised agencies and independent organisations that use 24 October as a marker are distinct entities.

Broadcasts and the calendar in New York or at other duty stations should be checked on un.org on the day. This account does not invent a concert at the Manhattan headquarters and does not treat flags as proof of a 2026 meeting.
