David McCallum was born in Glasgow on 19 September 1933, into a family of musicians. 19 September 2026 marks 93 years since his birth. The actor died in New York on 25 September 2023, aged 90. This article marks the date of birth, not an age he would have reached in life.

He studied the oboe, then acting, after military service, at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Before television he appeared in British films, including A Night to Remember and The Great Escape. The role of agent Illya Kuryakin in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., from 1964, made him a star and brought Emmy nominations.
