On Wednesday, 21 October 2026, a powerful explosion was heard in Aden, in southern Yemen. An Al Jazeera journalist and a police official confirmed the sound. The official said smoke was rising near Aden airport, a city held by the internationally recognised government. This is a blast that was heard, not a casualty toll.

The same police official, quoted by AFP through Türkiye Today, said, speaking anonymously for security reasons, that the explosion was "caused by a Houthi missile." AFP notes that fighting between government forces and the Houthis has intensified. A police statement is not a Saudi confirmation of the target or of damage.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had struck the Saudi-led coalition's "military operation room" at Badr Camp in Aden with a ballistic missile. He called the strike "precise and direct." CGTN writes that there was no immediate confirmation from the Saudi side.

From Taiz, Al Jazeera's Maha Ali said the Houthis had targeted Aden airport with a ballistic missile. Saree's claim speaks of Badr Camp, not an independent report that the runway was hit. We do not mix the airport, the camp and unconfirmed damage.

EFE, carried by Infobae, writes that by the time of its report no official source had reported dead, wounded or material damage from this claimed action. The absence of a toll is not proof of zero damage; it means there is no official figure.

This Aden incident is not the 19 October Houthi attack on Al-Alam camp in Shabwa, already on this site. We do not mix that death toll with Wednesday's blast.

Türkiye Today recalls the government's "Dawn of Yemen" offensive this month and the restart of fighting in July after the 2022 truce. That is war context, not confirmation of this strike.

Until a Saudi or government statement on damage, three facts stand: the blast heard near the airport, the police claim of a Houthi missile, and Saree's claim against the operations room at Badr Camp.
