Arsenal won 1-0 at the City Ground on Sunday 18 October, after a Noni Madueke shot in the 80th minute. The ball deflected off a Nottingham Forest defender. It was the visitors’ first shot on target. BBC and The Guardian described the same score and the same scorer, but not the same name on the deflection. We keep the deflection and do not pick the wrong defender.

Madueke came on at half-time for Eberechi Eze, who was making his first Premier League start of the season. The first half had no shot on target from either side. BBC notes it is only the second such league game, after Aston Villa on 31 August, another 1-0 for Arsenal from the second half.

Forest started the second half better but did not score. The search for a first home win of the season goes on. BBC lists Declan Rice with the assist. Attendance: 30,893. Arsenal have six league wins, stay second, three points behind Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta spoke, in The Guardian, of a tight match in which the side found a way. Madueke said he cut inside on his right after beating Daniel Muñoz on the outside. The starting wide role remains a squad question, not a law of the position.

Jurriën Timber reached, according to the club, 100 Arsenal appearances, also introduced in the second half. Forest, under Oliver Glasner, showed organisation but no goal. One result does not close the season for either side.

The score is from the Premier League, not a cup. Three points, a deflected goal, one shot on target.
