Radio România Cluj writes on 19 October that rehabilitation works at the Administrative Palace in Baia Mare are almost finished. Maramureș Online, quoting county council president Gabriel Zetea: the works are done. This is not the reopening. Furniture, fittings and handover remain, scheduled for the end of 2026. Staff will spend another winter in the current offices.

Updated value: 183.48 million lei. More than 97 million, non-reimbursable EU funds. The works-and-fittings contract: about 145 million lei including VAT. The programme covered mainly energy efficiency; the rest, the county budget and co-financing. Maramureș pe Surse: for the own contribution and ineligible costs, the county council turned to the Council of Europe Development Bank. That is their account of the session, not a CEB communiqué we opened.

The building dates from the 1960s, architect Mircea Alifanti. Radio Cluj: materials, proportions and concept were kept where possible. A visit by representatives of the Order of Architects and the Union of Architects — their appreciation, not ours. Six wings, the county council page says; the move will be wing by wing.

Zetea: “If everything goes as planned, in the first months of next year we will be able to work from the Administrative Palace again.” Radio Cluj puts the same window. Maramureș pe Surse: the financing contract allows at most 30% of useful floor space to other institutions — Prefecture, county statistics office, AFIR, Agriculture Directorate. Their move is not dated.

The gap between 180–183 million and 145 million: the first includes implementation reserves, the second is the works-and-fittings contract. It is not a 38-million hole found today. It is project structure, explained in the county council session.

The rehabilitation site is at an end, according to the press. Handover is not. The offices are not either.
