Bermondsey Street in south London will close to traffic on Saturday, 19 September for the anniversary edition of Bermondsey Street Festival. The official site marks 20 years of a free, volunteer-run community celebration in the heart of SE1.

Southwark Council lists the event in its public calendar on Saturday from 11:00 to 20:00 and states that it is not a council event, but a publicly contributed listing. Organisers say the festival is made possible by grant support from Southwark Council and local sponsorship, including Team London Bridge and Store House.

For the day, the street fills with music, food, independent stalls and street entertainers. The council notes that live music takes place in Tanner Street Park, while Leathermarket Gardens hosts family activities including the Dog Show, maypole dancing, parade performances and children’s entertainment, with a dress-up disco.

Organisers describe the festival as a celebration of independent businesses, creativity and neighbourliness. For one day, an ordinary Southwark street becomes a pedestrian space.
