Bucharest is hosting the 16th edition of its International Poetry Festival from 14 to 20 September, bringing Romanian and international writers together across several cultural venues in the city.

The festival is built around public readings, conversations between writers, meetings with audiences, publishing events and projects connecting literature with other forms of artistic expression.

The 17 September programme continues the international strand. The National Museum of Romanian Literature lists public readings with writers from Romania, Greece and Armenia, including Dimitris Kanellopoulos and Anush Kocharyan, as well as writers from the Romanian diaspora.

On the same day at 19:30, the museum announces the opening of Alina Aldea’s exhibition “Frecvențe organice”, scheduled to remain on view until 11 October.

The international format gives audiences an opportunity to discover contemporary poetry from different cultural spaces and follow conversations about translation, language and the circulation of literature.

The festival does not take place in a single venue. Events are distributed across several institutions and cultural spaces in Bucharest, so visitors should consult the official programme for each meeting.
