Alexandr Capmoale of Balti has won gold at the WKF World Karate Championships, in U21 kumite up to 67 kilograms. TVN reported it. Karate News confirmed the scores. This is not a senior world title and not an Olympic medal.

The final was on Sunday, 18 October, in Bielsko-Biala, Poland. The cadet, junior and U21 tournament ran from 14 to 18 October. Capmoale beat Turkey's Savas Ogus 9-5 after trailing 4-5 and scoring five unanswered points. In the semi-final he won 15-14 against Vedad Mujic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The WKF called that semi-final extraordinary, Karate News writes.

The Olympic Committee of Moldova notes that this is the country's first medal at a WKF World Karate Championships. Calling him world champion, without U21, stretches a youth crown into the senior ranks. The next step is seniors. The next cadet, junior and U21 worlds are listed for Mexico in 2028; that is the event calendar, not Capmoale's ticket.

He is coached by his father, Victor Capmoale, according to Balti City Hall, cited by TVN. Karate News puts U21 bronze at the 2025 Karate One Youth League in Guadalajara and U21 continental bronze in 2023 on his record, and says the gold in Poland is his first international gold medal.

Japan topped the week's medal table, Karate News writes. Moldova climbed onto a table where, until Sunday, it had no WKF world championship medal. A U21 gold is not an Olympic qualifier.

Balti City Hall congratulated the athlete and the coach. The local greeting does not change the category: it is U21, -67 kg, in Bielsko-Biala, not a senior title.
