On Wednesday, 21 October 2026, CFR Călători announced timetable changes from 24 October to 1 November. CFR SA is working on the infrastructure between Târgu Jiu and Ecaterina Teodoroiu, and at the same time on Târgu Jiu–Amaradia and Târgu Jiu–Lunca Budieni. This is a traffic notice, not a line closure. The passenger operator is not the infrastructure manager.
IR 1836 Cluj-Napoca–Parângu–Târgu Jiu–Bucharest North runs to timetable as far as Parângu and is cancelled on Parângu–Târgu Jiu–Bucharest North. On Cărbunești–Bucharest North it runs as IR 16436. Between Parângu and Cărbunești, passengers transfer by bus.
IR 1835 Bucharest North–Craiova–Copăcioasa–Târgu Jiu–Teiuș–Cluj-Napoca runs to timetable as far as Copăcioasa and is cancelled on Copăcioasa–Teiuș. On Parângu–Teiuș it runs as IR 12835. Between Copăcioasa and Parângu, again by bus. It is not the same path as IR 1836.
Some Regio trains will also have transfers, announced locally, in stations. The notice does not give those train numbers. We do not invent them.
Passengers with tickets for the affected trains may, on request, recover the unused fare, for the whole journey or the unused stretch, under the rail transport rules. The refund is not automatic. Domestic phone: 021 9521. The Trenul meu app needs the exact train number.
The 24 October–1 November window is not the September notice for 5 October–5 November. There the 1835/1836 transfers were on other segments. The two windows do not add up to a “month-long closure”.
