Deep Purple has postponed the rest of its UK and European tour after singer Ian Gillan, 81, needed emergency medical care last week in Leipzig. The incident already led to the cancellation of the Leipzig and Hamburg shows over the weekend.

In a message on the band’s official site, Gillan thanked fans for their support and said he had hoped for the all-clear to finish the tour, but that continuing would involve “very serious risks.” The postponement followed advice from his medical team and management, “until further notice.”

The “Splat!” world tour included November UK dates in Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and two London nights (Eventim Apollo and Royal Albert Hall), plus other European shows. Promoters say tickets remain valid for rescheduled dates; new dates have not yet been announced.

The nature of the medical problem has not been disclosed publicly. The band, known for hits such as “Smoke on the Water,” “Highway Star” and “Black Night,” apologised for the inconvenience to fans.

The official statement leaves open a return when Gillan’s condition allows; until then the remainder of the 2026 European/UK leg stays postponed, not framed as a permanent cancellation.
