Demi Vollering won the women’s elite road race at the UCI World Championships in Montréal on Saturday, 26 September 2026. The Dutch rider took the first rainbow jersey of her career after 180.1 km, eight laps of the Mont-Royal circuit and as many climbs of Voie Camillien-Houde.
The official UCI time was 4:45:09. Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney (Poland) crossed in the same time. Elisa Longo Borghini (Italy) finished third, four seconds back. Marlen Reusser (Switzerland), world time-trial champion that same week, was fourth, eight seconds down.
Vollering attacked about 38.5 km from the finish on Camillien-Houde, after a lead-out from teammate Puck Pieterse. She went solo, was caught before the last lap, then closed attacks on the final circuit. Niewiadoma-Phinney opened the sprint with about 200 metres left; Vollering came past before the line.
UCI also notes a 2026 season of 15 wins, including the Tour of Flanders, Flèche Wallonne, Liège–Bastogne–Liège, the women’s Giro and the Tour de France Femmes. The rainbow jersey adds to those results; it does not replace the 2023–2025 palmarès already on the record.
She is the ninth Dutch winner of the elite women’s road world title, in a line that includes Marianne Vos, Anna van der Breggen and Annemiek van Vleuten. The Dutch palmarès is nationality context, not a UCI ranking of the 2026 edition.
