Prosecutors at DNA’s Iași territorial service sent three defendants to trial on Wednesday, 21 October, in a case already public since November 2025. The file went to the Bucharest Court of Appeal. This is an indictment, not a conviction.
The statement names Mihai Barbu, at the time president of a Vaslui county party branch, under judicial control, for using influence or authority to obtain undue benefits; Cristina Trăilă, then deputy secretary-general of the Government, for complicity in the same offence; and B.F., associate and de facto administrator of a poultry company, under judicial control in another case, for instigation. Digi24 identifies B.F. as businessman Fănel Bogoș, and Barbu as the former PNL Vaslui president.
According to prosecutors, a salmonella outbreak would have been confirmed in September 2024 at one of the farms in Vaslui county. B.F. would have filed at DSVSA Vaslui a compensation claim of about 13 million lei, on the ground that the company would not have been at fault. The directorate would have ordered strict monitoring of the disposal of about 226,000 birds and would have refused the file. The sum is a refused claim, in DNA’s account, not a payment made.
In February–November 2025, B.F. would have determined Barbu to use political influence to obtain that money anyway: meetings with officials, with the ANSVSA director and with politicians, plus pressure to dismiss the DSVSA Vaslui director. On 3–4 November 2025, Trăilă, in her then office, would have helped Barbu. That is the indictment’s framing, not a verdict.
DNA placed a precautionary seizure on sums belonging to Barbu. The file was sent to the Bucharest Court of Appeal on 21 October, with a proposal to keep the precautionary and preventive measures against him. For the other alleged facts concerning B.F. and other people named in the 6 November 2025 statement, the investigation continues separately. They are not mixed in here.
Digi24 writes that Ilie Bolojan was heard as a witness, not as a defendant. The Government confirmed an audience of about 15 minutes on 23 September 2025, with Barbu accompanied by Bogoș, and said it had no follow-up for the businessman’s situation. Those sent to trial benefit from the presumption of innocence. This is not a sentence.
