The Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts’s agent, Nicole Lynn, issued a joint statement on Monday, 19 October: after further tests the diagnosis is deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli — clots in both lungs. Hurts is, the text says, “clinically stable”, with no significant functional limitations. There is no return date. This is not the newsroom’s medical finding: it is what the club and the agent wrote.

In London, specialists first diagnosed a superficial vein thrombosis in the left calf. After monitoring, the statement says the current diagnosis is DVT plus pulmonary emboli. Treatment, again according to the club, should involve anticoagulation only. While he is on those drugs he is not allowed contact activity, including football.

The club writes that the prognosis is “very good” and that it expects a full recovery, with no long-term effects. Hurts will stay around the team and keep conditioning. A return to contact, in the same text, is envisaged once he is off the blood thinners. That is the club’s expectation, not a closed medical timetable.

His last game was 11 October in London: the Eagles lost 19–17 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Sunday, 18 October, he missed the 25–14 defeat to the Carolina Panthers. NBC News records both dates. Monday’s statement does not judge whether he should have played in London.

Ian Rapoport (NFL Network) and Adam Schefter (ESPN) wrote on Monday that Hurts would miss the rest of the 2026 season and that treatment would take at least three months. The club did not put that timetable in the statement. The reporters’ line is not a medical verdict and not a season-long IR announcement from the Eagles.

Hurts was Super Bowl 59 MVP in February 2025, when Philadelphia beat Kansas City 40–22. Monday’s case is medical, not a career verdict. The closed fact is the statement: an updated diagnosis, blood thinners, and no contact until he is off the treatment.
