Labour Minister Florin Manole says he wants a “reorganisation” of the ministry he returned to after a five-month break, arguing that some staff work past hours while colleagues in other departments do not carry the same load, news.ro reported.

“I will also do a reorganisation in the ministry, not because I want to fire anyone and I will not do that, but because I want to allocate more human resources to departments with a heavier workload,” Manole said Wednesday evening on Antena 3.

He described returning from a meeting with the prime minister: when he entered the ministry around 18:00, some people were only then leaving; “The working day does not end at six,” the minister added.

Manole acknowledged that not all Labour Ministry employees have the same professional load. Some departments — which he declined to name publicly — “do not have the load of those working in Social Assistance, for example.”

The political message is twofold: an assurance the reorganisation is not a wave of dismissals, and a signal that staff will be redistributed toward high-volume areas.

Manole recently returned to lead the ministry after five months away; the remarks come as the institution handles social dossiers and labour policy with heavy pressure on certain directorates.

He did not announce an official reorganisation calendar or staffing figures; the emphasis remained on balancing workload across departments.
