The Santiago Court of Appeal confirmed, on Wednesday 21 October, the definitive dismissal of Sergio Jadue, former ANFP president, in tax file RIT 780-2016. Prescription, from 28 July, at the 13th Guarantee Court. A Chilean dismissal confirmed. Not the closing of FIFA Gate in the United States. Dump La Tercera.
The 11th chamber, 24 Horas writes: Romy Grace Rutherford, Fernando Guzmán, counsel Sebastián Perelló. It shared the first-instance reasons. Articles 253 and 370 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The Public Ministry and the SII had attacked the count: formalisation in absentia, for extradition, on 26 January 2017; prescription, on their reading, on 26 January 2027. The defence: ten years from the act. Two calendars. The chamber kept the first.
The SII, on 28 July, had said it was studying an appeal: false or incomplete income returns, more than $1.6 million omitted, a company in the Virgin Islands, a 2016 complaint. That is the tax archive. It is not the American sentence.
Jadue is in Miami. The US file, FIFA Gate, has had its sentence postponed 16 times, La Tercera writes. He is waiting on that court. A Chilean flank has closed. The American one has not.
La Tercera: in Chile, “he no longer has open cases”. That is the correspondents’ line, on this tax end. It is not a merits acquittal. It is not Monsalve. It is not another ANFP file.
Dump La Tercera. The rewrite rests on La Tercera and 24 Horas.
