Politehnica Timișoara has announced that, as of Friday, its second team has a new coach: former Romania international Iasmin Latovlevici. Radio România Actualități carried the club’s statement.
Latovlevici, 40, moves up from the club’s senior youth side, which he had led to first place in Series 9 of the national U19 championship. The step to Poli 2 keeps him inside the club’s pathway for feeding the first team.
“The objective for the second team is clear: to produce players for the first team,” Latovlevici said. Until winter, he noted, few changes can be made given how few league rounds remain before the break. For now the job is to gauge the squad’s level; the sharper picture comes after the winter training camp.
“It depends only on them — they are constantly learning, and their reactions differ. I will also have to get used to Liga 3 and this series; it is a level from which the kids especially have a lot to learn,” the new coach added.
In matchday 13 of Liga 3 Series 7, Poli 2 will play at home for the first time at the “Costică Rădulescu” sports ground in Timișoara, hosting Progresul Pecica on Friday, 13 November, at 14:00 — the first official home test under the new staff.
The appointment ties the U19 pipeline to the reserve project and stresses internal promotion, with Latovlevici treating Liga 3 as a practical school for the club’s young white-and-violet players.
