On Sunday night in Green Bay, the Packers beat the Cowboys 23-13. AP, on ESPN, and Dallas's own site have the same score. Green Bay is 4-2, with three straight wins. Dallas is 2-4. This is not a title and not a verdict on the season.
Jordan Love went 23 of 41 for 276 yards, a touchdown and an interception, plus a one-yard sneak. Matthew Golden caught six balls for 104 yards and the 9-yard score on the opening series, on third down. The Packers converted nine of their first ten third downs. They had come in last in the league at that.
Dallas scored nothing in the first half, 17-0 at the break. It was the first time since 7 November 2021, against Denver, AP writes. Dak Prescott finished 34 of 54 for 258 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Evan Williams took one near the goal line. Brandon Cisse, the draft pick, took the second after CeeDee Lamb slipped. Javonte Williams scored from a yard in the third. Ryan Flournoy caught six yards with 52 seconds left. The two-point try, also to Lamb, failed.
There were 22 penalties, 11 each. Love had three dropped touchdown throws: Golden twice, Christian Watson once, though one was also deflected. Trey Smack kicked three field goals. The Packers rushed for only 58 yards, Dallas 48. In yards the game was close. On the board, it was not.
Josh Jacobs comes off the commissioner's exempt list on Monday. He has not played all season. Last month he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanours from a May altercation. That is his file, not Sunday's score. Detroit is next.
The Packers have allowed 14 points or fewer in three straight games. The Cowboys came in at 27.6 points a game and left with 13. A night at Lambeau, not a championship.
