On Wednesday in Christchurch the New Zealand Silver Ferns beat the Australian Diamonds 62-50 in the second Constellation Cup test. The series stands 2-0 of four. A match result, not the Cup awarded. Dump ABC.

Sunday in Auckland had been 56-50. Australia still holds the trophy it reclaimed last year. Sydney is next on Sunday, Melbourne the Wednesday after. If the sides finish 2-2, goal difference decides, according to the Silver Ferns site. The Cup is not in the cabinet yet.

ABC, from Champion Data: the hosts shot at 93%, the visitors at 82%. The Diamonds took no intercepts. They turned the ball over 18 times, against 11. Rebounds were 6-4 to the Ferns. Penalties: 82 to 50. ABC’s lede said “31 more”. 82 minus 50 is 32. Stay with 82 and 50.

The quarters, from Netball Australia: 17-14, 33-26, 45-42, then 17-8 in the last. ABC noted the Diamonds cut it to two goals just before the third break, and that the Ferns opened the last term 10-3. Two moments, the same quarter. That is not 2-0 for the Cup.

Captain Karin Burger told Sky the training had been about staying composed. Liz Watson spoke of turnovers and basic errors. That is their recap. It is not a ruling on the umpires.

Dump ABC. The rewrite rests on ABC and Netball Australia.
