Simtel Team, listed in Bucharest, announced on Thursday, 15 October 2026, an EPC contract of about €17.5 million excluding VAT with Vienna Energy Forța Naturală for a photovoltaic plant at Bărăbanț, Alba Iulia. The beneficiary is wholly owned by Wien Energie International GmbH, part of Austria’s Wien Energie group — not Verbund, as some aggregated headlines suggested.

The contract covers design, equipment supply, construction, installation, commissioning and testing of the plant, plus the associated high-voltage station. Work is estimated at 16 months from the start notice; no handover calendar date was given. Ziarul Financiar reported the announcement after Thursday’s market close.

Agenda Construcțiilor wrote that the plant would be about 28 MW on about 32.7 hectares and that the project had been submitted to the Modernisation Fund’s call for new renewable capacity. Those capacity and area figures do not appear in ZF’s account; they remain that outlet’s figures, not a BVB filing quoted here.

Simtel said the partnership fits its strategy of large projects for relevant clients. For Vienna Energy, the Bărăbanț plant would complement, according to Agenda, a portfolio that includes hydropower and also aims at battery storage. Signing an EPC is not commissioning and does not guarantee Modernisation Fund money.

Wien Energie is Vienna’s main electricity supplier, not the federally owned Verbund group, which already operates a wind farm at Casimcea. A mix-up in some aggregated headlines does not change the parties to the Bărăbanț contract.

Profit.ro reported the same contract, with the same value and the same Austrian beneficiary. This article describes a commercial contract; it is not investment advice on SMTL shares.
