SVT, on 17 October: Facebook posts claim Left Party MP Mohamed Abdukardir Ali has admitted election fraud and been detained by police. That is false. Comments call for deportation. No Swedish news site sits behind it.
Ali is from Borlänge. In the party less than a year, he entered the Riksdag with 648 personal votes. Suspicions of fraud around his personal-vote campaign then followed. He denies them. That is not a conviction. The posts now stack an admission and an arrest on top of that suspicion — invention.
SVT traces the texts to a “marketing agency” in Vietnam, writing about politicians and public figures in several languages. The motive, the newsroom writes, looks financial, not an attempt to move Swedish politics. Jonathan Lundberg, at Källkritikbyrån: the firm presents itself as viral marketing and pumps out AI content at scale.
Källkritikbyrån names the firm BeeUp. The page is Dagens Fina Stund. Between 10 and 15 October, 12 posts about Ali, about 4,000 reactions. Generated images. Another story there: a raid, a safe, foreign currency, fake IDs for fictitious voters. KK: taken from thin air.
The method, the same desk says: take a real story that heats the comments and spin it with AI. KK has tracked BeeUp since 2025. SVT sought Ali for comment.
We do not treat the Facebook arrest as fact. The fraud inquiry remains, in these reports, a suspicion Ali rejects. The Riksdag is the seat of his mandate, not the scene of a detention from a click page.
