It is not a tour. It is a gala. On Saturday, 17 October, Taylor Swift took the stage at the sixth Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala, in Los Angeles. Page Six put up the setlist. E! confirmed it. Live for the first time: “The Fate of Ophelia”. Then “Love Story”, “Blank Space” and “I Knew It, I Knew You”, her song from Toy Story 5. The museum had announced the set on 8 October. Amy Homma, the director: “an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world.” That is a gala statement, not a review.

On the carpet, pale-blue Dior, pleated silk, a beaded bow. Page Six wrote Cinderella. On stage, another dress, sparkling, strapless. E! saw cobalt. Getty pictures for the foundation show the change. It is not an official concert clip. It is phones in the room.

The gala raises money for the museum. Presenter: Rolex. Co-chairs: Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg, Kate Capshaw. This year’s honorees: John Carpenter, Colman Domingo, Charlize Theron. Variety put the prizes: Luminary, Vantage, Icon. Swift closed the night; she did not take their place. Whoever introduced her, after Page Six, said: “just as kind as she is talented.” The room shouted. That is gala protocol, not an Oscar.

“I Knew It, I Knew You” is walking awards season. Variety, on 8 October, wrote that it could bring a nomination. That is a calendar sentence, not an Academy list. Swift was not nominated tonight. She sang. Kim Kardashian, Sabrina Carpenter, Rosé, among those filmed in the room. The celebrity list is long. We do not make it a catalogue.

The showgirl, on disc, was waiting for a stage. It came at a film museum, not a stadium. Anyone who wants the tour stays on the tour sheet. Anyone who wants Saturday night has it on the phones.
