World Food Day is observed on 16 October 2026 around the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The date recalls FAO’s founding. The 2026 message is the official English line “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow.”

FAO links forward-looking solutions with traditional knowledge and inclusive approaches, aiming at access to sufficient, safe, diverse and nutritious food without sacrificing the planet. Hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition are not interchangeable terms. Any figure must carry its year, territory and publishing institution.

The campaign is decentralised. Schools, farms, municipalities, organisations and newsrooms may hold conferences, exhibitions, lessons or local actions, in dozens of languages. A named institution’s participation in an FAO event is not assumed without a notice. FAO publishes a calendar of initiatives; each has its own conditions.

The campaign poster contest is open to people aged 5 to 19. The announced deadline for entries is 6 November 2026. The rules, age bands and rights in the works should be read before submission. A poster is not a statistic.
