A serious road crash happened Thursday on the A1 motorway near Miercurea Sibiului, at kilometre 278. Traffic was fully blocked on one carriageway and restricted on the other, Mediafax reported citing Sibiu county police.

The man involved was driving a truck. For reasons still under investigation he reportedly lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic; the vehicle overturned on the roadway.

He suffered multiple contusions and was taken conscious to Sibiu’s emergency unit. ISU Sibiu crews responded, including two SMURD teams (one with a doctor), a fire engine and a rescue truck.

“Road traffic on the Sibiu–Sebeș direction remains blocked, while Sebeș–Sibiu is moving with difficulty,” IPJ Sibiu said in an update after the crash.

The A1 stretch between Râmnicu Vâlcea and Deva stays disrupted until the carriageway is cleared and both directions reopen; drivers should check restrictions before entering the section.
