A 62-year-old man from Bistrița-Năsăud county was fined 4,000 lei after calling 112 and threatening to blow up a passenger train bound for Brașov. Police found no dangerous objects or devices on him.

The incident happened on Friday, 6 November 2026. He dialled the emergency number while travelling on a train through Prahova county toward Brașov. The Brașov Regional Transport Police Service and the county police inspectorate began identifying the caller at once.

His identity was established before the train reached Brașov station. On arrival, officers checked passengers and located the man. A body search turned up nothing that endangered travellers.

He admitted the call; his phone history confirmed the 112 dial. The 4,000-lei fine was issued under Government Emergency Ordinance 34/2008 on Romania’s single national emergency-call system.

Given the circumstances, authorities started specialist medical assessment; doctors will decide whether hospitalisation is required under the law.

Police again warn that false 112 calls waste resources and can delay responses to real emergencies.
