Cecil Fielder turns 63 on 21 September 2026. He was born in Los Angeles in 1963. In Major League Baseball he played mainly as a first baseman and designated hitter — a batter who hits in place of the pitcher without fielding in that inning.

After early seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, he played in Japan in 1989 for the Hanshin Tigers. His return to the United States with the Detroit Tigers was followed by the 1990 season: 51 home runs and 132 RBIs, leading the majors. He was the first American League player to top 50 home runs in a season since Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris in 1961.

He was selected three times for the All-Star Game. On 31 July 1996 he was traded to the New York Yankees and won the World Series that year, against the Atlanta Braves. Statistics come from MLB: season, league, team. Detroit totals are not mixed with New York totals.

This account does not invent a ceremony at Tiger Stadium for 21 September 2026. A 1990 home run remains a 1990 home run.

63 years, 51 home runs in 1990 for Detroit, the 1996 World Series with the Yankees. That is the record.
